The Education Resources Section within the Planning & Resources division provides a full package of financial services to the LA as follows:
- Budget preparation
- Maintenance of accounts and balance sheet
- Monitoring of expenditure and income against budgets
- Closure of accounts
- Support for budget holders/schools
- Completion of grant claims and government returns
- Reports to senior managers and councillors
- Operation and support for the local authority's mainframe accounting systems
- Training of staff on financial systems and accounting procedures
- Operation of postal services for the department and schools
