The Education Client Unit is an independent broker providing impartial contract advice and management services on a traded basis (CAMS) to schools and other departments within Bristol City Council, whilst maintaining the integrity required of a local authority department.

Our Vision
To become "the pivotal enabler that allows teachers the freedom to educate". We intend to achieve this by supporting schools with their procurement of goods and services and by providing a professional multi disciplinary management support team who's services can be tailored to meet schools changing needs.
The Unit structure
The Education Client Unit (ECU) operates within the Education Resources and Support Services Division. The ECU provides a range of contract advice and management services (CAMS) from which schools may purchase an annual contract letting and monitoring "package" or an individually priced consultancy service.

Key services the ECU provide
The ECU provides independent, objective and qualified professional and technical contract management services to schools, and other departments within Bristol City Council. The ECU has many years experience of successful contract management for, and on behalf of Bristol schools and is a non profit making organisation.
- Contract tendering, evaluation, management and monitoring of contracts for school meals, school cleaning, repair of computers and annual servicing of pottery and indoor PE equipment
- Advice to schools on procurement issues for traditional "blue" and "white collar" services ensuring schools receive Best Value, drawing upon our experience of PFI, the Procurement Practitioners Group and our membership of external professional bodies
- A bespoke contract letting service ranging from contracts of over a hundred schools to individual school contracts or cluster group contracts
- Advice and guidance to schools on service improvement, service development plans and the "development of the market" incorporating cross cutting corporate advice re: sustainability, community benefits, Health and Safety, contractor vetting and suitability
- A self funded "Relief Caretaking service", also advice on school caretaking issues, houses and interviews
- Kitchen and foodservice design and installation projects -capital works refurbishment and Greenfield site development
- Attendance at interviews for caretakers, facilities managers, business managers.
