Bristol Annual Performance Assessment (Self Assessment) 2008

Performance Assessment (APA) is an annual exercise by which Ofsted judges the effectiveness of the contributions made by Bristol Children and Young People's Services to improve outcomes for children and young people. Judgements are made against each of the five Every Child Matters outcomes and Capacity to Improve.

As part of the 2008 APA process, Bristol Children and Young People's Services has completed a self assessment and graded itself as follows:

Being Healthy - Good

Staying Safe - Good

Enjoying and Achieving - Adequate

Making a Positive Contribution - Good

Achieving Economic Well-being - Good

Capacity to Improve - Good

Overall contribution of the council's children's services in maintaining and improving outcomes for children and young people - Good

We are anticipating a visit from OFSTED inspectors during October 2008 as part of the inspection process, with final gradings being announced in November 2008.

As part of our performance management cycle we will be reviewing our Children & Young People's Plan from September 2008.
