This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to define the font size, style and colour and the background colour, so that they are consistent across all pages. If you don't like the styles we have chosen, or you find them difficult to read, you can change them yourself in your browser.
Internet Explorer Version 5 (if you need help with an earlier version, please email the Web Co-ordinator)
Font Size
To change the size of the text relatively (ie: page titles will still be bigger and links will still be smaller than the main text):
- Select View, then select Text Size
- Choose an alternative size (medium will display the text as set in the CSS)
To increase the size of the text and make the page titles and links the same size as the main text:
- Select Tools, then Internet Options and click on the Accessibility button
- Select Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages, click on OK and then OK again
NB - if you do both the above, the page titles and links will be the same size as the main text.
Font Style
- Select Tools, then Internet Options and click on the Accessibility button
- Select Ignore font styles specified on Web pages, click on OK and then OK again
This will change the font style to your browser's default. To make further changes, select Tools, then Internet Options and click on the Fonts button. Choose a font from the Web page font list, click on OK and then OK again.
Font Colour and Background Colour
- Select Tools, then Internet Options and click on the Accessibility button
- Select Ignore colors specified on Web pages, click on OK and then OK again
The text will appear as the browser's default - typically, main text will be black, links will be bright blue and visited links will be purple. To make further changes, select Tools, then Internet Options and click on the Colors button. Click on Use Windows colors to deselect it, then choose different colors from the Colors and Links options, click on OK and then OK again.
Netscape Version 6 (f you need help with an earlier version, please email the Web Co-ordinator)
Font Size
Either of the two methods below will change the size of the text relatively (ie: page titles will still be bigger and links will still be smaller than the main text):
- Select View, then select Text Size
- Choose an alternative size (100% will display the text as set in the CSS)
This will only alter your text size until you exit Netscape - when you load Netscape again the font size will revert back to the settings specified in the CSS. To change the default size, please follow the instructions below:
Default Font Size and Style
- Select Edit, then Preferences, then Appearance
- Select Fonts, select your chosen font size and style, click on Always use my font settings, overriding web page font and click on OK
Default Font and Background Colour
- Select Edit, then Preferences, then Appearance
- Select Colors, select your chosen color for the text and background and click on Use Windows colors to deselect it
- Select your chosen colours for Unvisited Links and Visited Links
- Click on Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors specified and click on OK
